Computex Taipei, Display Taiwan slated for June

Computex Taipei 2012, Asia’s largest computer exhibition and procurement platform, and Display Taiwan, the world’s biggest display technology fair, are set to be held during June, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said Feb. 7.

The Computex event, slated for June 5 to 9, will feature a range of products and technologies, including tablet PCs, ultrabooks, smartphones, e-books, 3-D technology and cloud computing, according to TAITRA.

With five exhibition areas at the Taiwan World Trade Center and Taipei International Convention Center, the event is expected to attract 1,800 enterprises from home and abroad to register to set up a total of 5,400 booths, breaking the previous record of 5,298 booths, TAITRA said.

TAITRA recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the organizers of three of the world’s leading consumer electronics and information technology trade fairs—International CES in Las Vegas, CeBIT in Hanover, Germany, and IFA in Berlin. The pact is expected to better promote the exhibition abroad.

The alliance is expected to bring the Computex show new synergy, particularly across Europe and the U.S., helping create even more overseas business opportunities for local enterprises taking part in the fair, according to TAITRA.

Meanwhile, Display Taiwan, scheduled for the TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall from June 19 to 21, is projected to draw some 240 enterprises with 750 booths, marking an increase in the event’s scale over last year, TAITRA said.

The event’s two main themes will be touch panel technology and AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode), a display technology for mobile devices and TVs, with planned exhibit areas for touch panels and modules, AMOLED, 3-D displays, digital signage, e-paper, components and materials, equipment and application products. South Korean panel makers will once again set up a national pavilion to present their latest display technologies and products.

TAITRA forecast that the trade fair will attract approximately 45,000 buyers from 80 countries. (SB)
