The Taipei International Auto Parts and Accessories Show (Taipei AMPA) and Taipei International Automobile Electronics Show (AutoTronics Taipei) will kick off April 10 in the ROC capital city, with organizers expecting bumper crowds at the headline events.

Around 1,100 firms from 13 countries will showcase their latest offerings at 3,030 booths in the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall and Nangang Exhibition Center, according to co-organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

“The four-day events are particularly important as the global economy is returning to the growth track,” a TAITRA official said. “They also serve as important bellwethers for auto sectors worldwide.”

More than 6,500 foreign buyers are expected to create business in excess of US$100 million this year, the official said. Key buyers include Advance Auto Parts Inc. from the U.S.; Kawan Lama Sejahtera PT from Indonesia; QLT Automotive from Italy; and SSS Auto Parts Pty. Ltd. from Australia.

The official said Taipei AMPA is a major accessory trade show for the global automobile industry, while AutoTronics Taipei focuses on auto electronics and parts, safety monitoring systems and telematics products.

The annual events also feature one-on-one business matchmaking sessions for local suppliers and buyers from Europe and North America, as well as technology forums and the Autotronics Innovation Awards.

Separately, TAITRA and Honeywell International Inc. are staging a procurement conference April 11 at the Taipei World Trade Center.

The U.S industrial heavyweight is expected to allocate US$1 million in local orders for electronic components such as batteries, cable harness, displays, and printed circuit boards. In addition, Kevin Alexander, vice president of global sourcing at Honeywell, will give a presentation on the firm’s procurement policies during the one-day event. (JSM)
