Taipei International Invention Show and Technomart is set to get underway Sept. 18-21, celebrating its 10th anniversary with a raft of promotional activities highlighting Taiwan’s innovation-driven economy.
A total of 600 individual inventors and companies from 21 countries will showcase their latest creations and offerings at 1,000-plus booths. Co-organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Industrial Technology Research Institute, the event is expected to draw a record number of attendees from home and abroad.
“We expect to see more than 100,000 visitors and buyers during the show’s four-day run,” a TAITRA official said. “These numbers will put the Taipei INST on a par with other leading global invention shows.”
The three exhibition zones—new inventions, patented merchandise and technomart—feature more than 2,000 products and technologies, as well as the results of 700 research projects.
“Some of the new devices on display include a smart baby bathtub that can regulate water level and temperature via handheld devices, and a circuit breaker that can shut down gas supply in the event of earthquakes magnitude 5 and above,” the official said.
Another highlight is an Intellectual Property Office under the Ministry of Economic Affairs-staged special exhibition of 45 winning entries by Taiwan inventors at global competitions last year. An award ceremony will also be held to honor winners of the annual Taipei INST invention competition, which attracted around 1,000 entries this year.
Other major activities include business matching and technology consultation sessions, forums and workshops on intellectual property rights, and new product promotions. (SFC-JSM)
