A delegation comprising 29 high-tech startups from Taiwan is taking part in VivaTech, the largest tech innovation conference in Europe, June 11-14 in Paris to showcase the country’s vibrant entrepreneurship.

According to the National Science and Technology Council, the group is led by its startup incubator, Taiwan Tech Arena. Themed “AI Taiwan,” the TTA pavilion focuses on AI; health and longevity; and sustainability, climate and mobility.

By showcasing participating firms’ AI solutions to 34 industrial problems, the pavilion demonstrates the breadth and depth of Taiwan startups’ high-tech prowess, the NSTC added.

Equally impressive, seven Taiwan startups are shortlisted in the inaugural Tech for Change Award at the event, the NSTC said, adding that the number is the second most of all participating countries. The entities include Hsinchu County-based Anivance AI in the health category, New Taipei City-based All Good Energy in the energy category and Taipei City-based Sunmit Industries in the climate technology category.

The NSTC said the opening ceremony of the Taiwan Pavilion was attended by political figures, officials and business leaders, including Taiwan Rep. to France Hao Pei-chih; Julie Lamandé, VivaTech head of global partnerships and public affairs; and representatives of trade promotion agencies and organizations from Brazil, Dubai, France, Japan, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

Another highlight was the Taiwan Tech Startup Night organized by the TTA and Taipei Representative Office in France. The event involved more than 70 participants, and featured business matching sessions between local startups and potential investors. (SFC-E)
