Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung hosted an event expressing gratitude to those from all walks of life who have worked hand in hand with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Taiwan, world peace and prosperity. The event, titled as a gathering for friends of foreign service took place Dec. 22 in Taipei City.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare Lue Jen-der, ambassadors-at-large, advisors to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the MOFA branding team, the medical and health diplomacy advisory group organized by the MOFA and the MOHW, other officials and representatives from commercial, medical and cultural sectors.

Lin said Taiwan continues to show the world that the country is a reliable partner through public-private cooperation, adding that the country has received more than 6,000 individuals from over 100 countries and 600 groups over the past year. The minister noted he had visited 11 allies while touring like-minded partners including European countries, Japan and the U.S. since taking office, showing close connections to the world.

The minister said these achievements are attributable to the friendly relations between the diplomatic service and other walks of life based on strong expertise, strategic recommendations, suggestions on projecting a national image and cooperation on the Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project. The close relations enable the MOFA to deepen work with like-minded partners and successfully implement projects, he added.

Lue said the medical and health diplomacy advisory group established in July facilitates the country to take advantage of its strengths in medical technology and epidemic prevention, among other fields, to work with the international community. The MOHW is committed to working with the MOFA to integrate resources to improve the medical environment in friendly countries and promote the Taiwan health model to the world, he added.

Lin presented certificates of appreciation to ambassadors-at-large, advisors and group members while conferring Friend of Foreign Service Medals on business representatives. (YCH-E)
