The 2011 Taiwan International Cultural and Creativity Industry Expo will be held at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall Sept. 8 to 11, according to the Council for Cultural Affairs.
“Initiated last year, the expo aims to integrate the government’s resources and is a platform for product manufacturers to exchange ideas and find buyers,” Lin Yu-hsiang, an officer with the CCA, said Sept. 7. “We hope to introduce Taiwan’s cultural and creative products to the world through the event.”
Lin pointed out that the theme of this year’s expo is “Link.” The expo will “integrate local industries, extend the influence of their brands and corporations, and increase the value of their output and efficiency.”
A total of 400 manufacturers, including Cheerful Fashion Goods Co. Ltd., Franz Collection Inc. and Liuligongfang Corp., will participate in the fair, Lin said.
Buyers from Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Turkey and six South American countries have been invited to the expo and are expected to take part in the events, he added.
The official said the event has expanded this year to include art performances, book fairs, forums and green-living fairs. Organizers have also entered into cooperative ventures with the Huashan 1914 Creative Park, the Shida commercial area and the Xue Xue Institute.
“We hope the four-day event will attract 70,000 visitors and generate orders and retail sales worth NT$250 million (US$8.8 million),” Lin said.
In addition, a competition was held from July through August to select 22 outstanding cultural and creative products, two manufacturers that practice social responsibility and one manufacturer providing the best innovative service.
Of the 342 submissions, Jia Inc. Ltd.’s National Palace Museum X Jia Inc., a collection of tea sets, snack sets, and salt and pepper shakers made in cooperation with the NPM, and A Letter from Home, a vacuum-packed rice package designed to look like a letter, by Green-In-Hand Food Bank, both won the gold prize. Jia has won the top award for the second consecutive year with The Steamer Set as last year’s winning product.
The award ceremony was held Sept. 6, said Lin, adding that the winning products will be displayed at the event. (HZW)
