Thirty teen-aged envoys of goodwill from the Foo Hsing School of Dramatic Arts carried a taste of Chinese opera to audiences throughout the Americas. Wherever they went, the young troupers won friends for China with their dedication to the theater and their enthusiastic interest in new experiences. Theaters from Canada to Argentina splashed news of Foo Hsing's arrival across their facades in welcome. Among them was Opera Teatro in Buenos Aires.

The youngsters showed their adaptability by performing in a wide variety of settings—from a stately opera house in Colombia to a television studio in theHonduras a playhouse in Medellin Colombia TV in New York City ... and a plaza de toros in Armenia, Colombia.

The tour was not all work and no play. The energetic teen-agers had vigor left over for an off-hour visit to the Statue of Liberty ... to buy cotton candy at the Seattle World's Fair ... have a snow fight in Canada .. spend hours in the pool at Guadalajara ... and enjoy Disneyland.

The young opera stars finally returned to Taipei to continue their schooling after 11 eventful months on the road. Led by Foo Hsing principal, Wang Chen-tsu, they stepped off the plane with smiles that quickly turned to tears as they were reunited with schoolmates who stayed behind.
