More than 80 offerings are featured in the Taiwan Cinema selection at Cannes Film Festival’s online Marche du Film running June 22-26, according to the Taiwan Creative Content Agency under the Ministry of Culture.

Comprising animations, documentaries, narrative features, projects, restored classics and shorts, the films spotlight the creativity of Taiwan’s movie industry and its richly talented participants.

TAICCA said films expected to generate interest among buyers and distributors on the strength of writing and production values include narrative features “Acting out of Love” by Ken Lin; “Get the Hell Out” by Wang I-fan; “I Weirdo” by Liao Ming-yi; and “My Missing Valentine” by Chen Yu-hsun.

In addition, TAICCA’s new Shoot the Book initiative is proving popular at the event. It is showcasing agency-supported “Ghost of a Place” by Kevin Lin and other titles considered as having the greatest potential for successful translation and cross-cultural audience appeal.

Launched in 1959, Marche du Film is one of the largest movie industry gatherings worldwide. It involves over 12,500 professionals, including 1,687 buyers representing 5,518 companies.

TAICCA, established in 2019, is tasked with promoting creative content, culture and innovation in Taiwan while raising the country’s profile in the international film market. (TYT-E)
