Taipei 101, owned by the Taipei Financial Center Corporation, unveiled a series of year-end festive events Dec. 3 in Taipei City.
Themed “Spark 101,” this year’s activities are divided into four parts: “Spark the Moment,” “Spark the Night,” “Spark the Art” and “Spark the Love,” the building’s management said, adding that it hopes to create a joyful atmosphere through art, fireworks, music, lighting and love.
“Spark the Moment” marks 101’s first foray into hosting a music contest in collaboration with the Taipei Music Center. The competition provides young talent with the opportunity to make it big on the international stage.
In honor of the 30th anniversary of Disney’s “Toy Story,” projection mapping shows featuring characters from the Pixar classic are set to be displayed as part of “Spark the Night” from Dec. 27 to Jan. 1, 2026. Building management said that 101’s exterior has already been decorated with character art.
Additionally, in the “Spark the Art” category, “Beyond the Puppet, Beyond the Summit” is an exhibition underway at the building’s observatory through March 1, 2026, that immerses visitors in an interweaving of traditional Taiwanese culture and modern art.
Building management also said that it would be donating 20 percent of the proceeds from a “Spark the Love”-related event to charities as a way to give back to the people of the city. (POC-E)
