The Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Department of Industrial Technology is operating a booth at 2025 Touch Taiwan, underway through April 18, to display the fruits of the country’s research accomplishments in four display industry fields.
The DOIT said that technology showcased at the exhibition spans panel-level packaging, automotive displays and smart applications, advanced display materials, and low-carbon displays and green manufacturing.
DOIT Director General Kuo Chao-chung noted that the recent U.S. tariff policy has posed a challenge for industry. He added that, when faced with global volatility, it is important to reinforce supply chain resilience and the overall economic ecosystem.
Over the past four years more than 120 innovative techniques have been rolled out in the display area, which have stimulated NT$13 billion (US$400 million) in private sector investment, Kuo continued. He further indicated that this year’s edition of Touch Taiwan, which features 11 forums on technologies and talks between more than 70 firms from home and abroad, could facilitate cooperation between domestic businesses and their overseas counterparts.
According to the DOIT, of the major exhibited technologies at their booth, five were developed by the Hsinchu County-based Industrial Technology Research Institute, which is subsidized by the department. One such development is a type of panel-level packaging which could reduce production cost by 50 percent, be applied to chips for computing and communication, and enhance the country’s global competitiveness.
