A Ministry of Digital Affairs forum on industry applications for digital identity wallets concluded July 25 in Taipei City, highlighting governmental commitment to digital transition.
The forum drew government representatives and finance and transportation sector experts, who expressed enthusiasm for DIW. Through case studies, lectures and discussions, participants clarified how DIW can optimize operation, enhance data security and deepen user trust, while exploring challenges and opportunities.
Speakers briefed on DIW applications: in finance, DIW can serve as a customer knowledge tool; in transport, as part of the rental process, i.e. verifying id, paying insurance etc.; and in education, digital certificates can facilitate smart campus infrastructure and personal information, the MODA added.
DIW development enhances individual data autonomy and a compatible and safe digital ecosystem. The MODA committed to further workshops and international exchange, together with industry collaboration to advocate for adoption of DIW to forge a safe digital society. (POC-E)
