An industrial delegation to Eswatini July 27-Aug. 2 has already yielded fruitful results, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Aug. 9.

The group included representatives of enterprises from around Taiwan in the fields of agricultural biotechnology, green photovoltaics, infrastructure and medicine. Delegation members were received by King Mswati III, along with Prime Minister Russell Dlamini and other Cabinet officials; met with Manqoba Khumalo, minister of commerce, trade and industry; visited the Royal Science and Technology Park and local factories owned by companies from Taiwan; and attended investment opportunity seminars.

According to the MOFA, the trip followed Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung’s visit to the African ally as President Lai Ching-te’s special envoy in April to attend celebrations in honor of King Mswati III’s 57th birthday. During Lin’s stay, industrial members of his delegation showed high interest in investing in Eswatini, the ministry said, adding that the MOFA assisted in organizing the current trip to create new businesses opportunities and expand bilateral economic and trade relations.

Since Taiwan and Eswatini established the official ties in 1968, the allies have enjoyed a close cooperation, the MOFA said. The ministry will continue to promote the Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project through the integrated diplomacy while working with Eswatini to advance joint sustainable economic development, stability and prosperity.
