The 2025 Agricultural Trade Goodwill Mission of Taiwan departed for the U.S. Sept. 14 to expand bilateral exchanges, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The group is led by Minister of Agriculture Chen Junne-jih and comprises senior representatives from Taiwanese industry associations including vegetable oil manufacturing, feed production, flour mills, poultry sales, frozen food processing, and chain and franchise promotion. Members of three U.S. crop and export councils are also participating in the trip.

According to the MOFA, after arriving in Washington D.C., the delegation will split to cover a variety of areas: a group concerned with corn and soybean will travel to Arkansas, Ohio and Indiana; delegates representing wheat interests will visit South Dakota, Montana and Idaho; and a beef sub-delegation will call on Florida and Texas.

This marks the 15th time that a Taiwanese agricultural goodwill mission has visited the U.S. since 1998, the MOFA said. Before the delegates leave on Sept. 27, they will sign procurement agreements with several agricultural councils, the ministry added.

The MOFA said Taiwan and the U.S. continue to deepen cooperation in agricultural technological innovation and the food security supply chain. Taiwan was the eighth largest destination for U.S. food exports in 2024, with major items including soybeans, corn, wheat and beef, it added.

The MOFA hopes to bolster bilateral agricultural cooperation and exchanges to further strengthen the trade and food security partnership between Taiwan and the U.S. (SFC-E)
