State-run Taiwan International Ports Corp. won a silver medal of the 2024 Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards, reflecting global recognition of the entity’s promotion of sustainability.
Organized by Singapore-based CSRWorks International, the ASRA is a non-profit initiative that champions and commemorates outstanding corporate reporting, disclosure and transparency practices. It not only spotlights and commends exceptional leaders in sustainability reporting but also serves as a dynamic hub for sharing best ESG practices, benchmarking and collaborative learning.
According to the firm overseen by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the 2024 ASRA was contested by business entities from 13 countries in Asia over 17 categories. The TIPC was the only one from Taiwan to be honored in the Public Sector category.
TIPC Chair Lee Hsien-yi said that, in response to government policies and stakeholders’ concerns, the firm has been adopting proactive measures to ensure sustainable operations and governance, honor corporate responsibility, promote the well-being of its employees and community members of port cities and reduce carbon reduction at local ports.
A key initiative in this regard is the TIPC Environmental, Social and Governance Report, which discloses the firm’s achievements in promoting sustainable port management and various platforms for communications with parties of interest.
The firm’s 2023 report has since won many accolades, and it was also named one of the best companies in Taiwan to work for by HR Asia magazine, the TIPC added.
Lee said the TIPC will continue to focus on key global issues such as sustainability development trend, climate change and biodiversity, as it strives to fulfill its vision of building low-carbon and resilient ports for the benefits of all stakeholders, he added. (SFC-E)
