June 24, 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sincerely welcomes the decision by the governments of the Philippines and Brunei to grant visa-free entry to Taiwan nationals. (MOFA)
The decision of the governments of Brunei and the Philippines to offer visa-free entry to holders of ROC (Taiwan) passports is sincerely welcomed by the government and people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Manila’s new measure, introduced June 19 and effective July 1, allows Taiwan nationals to visit the Philippines for up to 14 days without applying for a visa before arrival, the MOFA said. The act follows an announcement by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung at a Philippines Independence Day reception June 13 in Taipei City that visa-free entry for Filipinos was to be extended an additional year.

The MOFA said the government of Brunei announced June 23 that visa-free entry is available to ROC (Taiwan) passport holders for up to 2 weeks, with immediate effect. The same 14-day period was previously available to visitors from Taiwan through a landing visa.

In posts on his official social media accounts, Lin described the latest developments as milestones in the government’s policy of integrated diplomacy. He thanked the two New Southbound Policy partner countries for their friendship and pragmatic spirit, expressing hopes for even stronger ties and exchanges in tourism, business and beyond. (SFC-E)
