To celebrate Buddha’s Birthday, which this year falls on Mother’s Day, the Tzu Chi Foundation is set to hold 470 ceremonies in 36 countries across five continents May 14 to pray for blessings for the general public. During the main local celebration taking place at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei City, 500 drummers averaging 25 years of age are scheduled to perform. Around 278 ceremonies will be held in Taiwan, with 1,000 priests and 130,000 believers taking part. According to organizers, around 260,000 people around the globe are expected to witness and participate in the events. (Liberty Times)
