Newborn sika
August 16, 2017
A newborn Formosan sika deer, a species endemic to Taiwan, is pictured at Taipei Zoo in this undated photo. The baby deer, born on the night of July 29 as Typhoon Nesat swept across the island, has been named Meinisha, a combination of the first part of her mother’s name, Meiyan, and the Chinese name for the storm.
