The Jialeshui scenic area in southern Taiwan’s Pingtung County is a perfect location to enjoy the annual Perseid meteor shower. The local government is planning a special event Aug. 10 to take advantage of the astronomical occurrence’s overlap with Qixi, a holiday on the lunar calendar that memorializes the romance between two mythic figures.
