The 2011
Nantou International Pole Vault Invitational was held March 24 at National Tsaotun Commercial and Industrial Vocational Senior High School in the central Taiwan county’s Caotun township. A total of 31 male and female athletes from 10 countries and territories around the world took part in the event. Taiwan’s He Jie-ying recorded a personal best of 3.65 meters to finish in fourth place in the women’s competition, while Martina Strutz from Germany set a new meet record with a vault of 4.45 meters to take top spot.
The ROC Ministry of Foreign Affairs lodged a protest with the Indonesian government after the latter designated Taiwan under the PRC on its visa information website. References to Taiwan were then changed to “Chinese Taipei” March 24 in accordance with the practice of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, MOFA officials said, adding that they will continue to negotiate with the Indonesia government over the issue.
