The Taipei City Government Department of Labor will stage a series of art exhibitions, concerts, radio programs and speeches for laborers between May and September, DOL Commissioner Chen Yeh-shin said April 15.

“Through these events we aim to boost morale, enrich free time and promote a healthy workplace by balancing work and leisure,” Chen said.

The Life Jazz Band, Sun Son Percussion and Taipei Civic Symphony Orchestra will perform May 11 at Taipei City’s Da-an Forest Park, while “Inspiration,” a photographic exhibition capturing the achievements and talents of physically impaired people in different fields, by Taiwan artist Picasso Chang, will be showcased May 1-14 at the DOL Labor Education Center, Chen said.

Paintings by several local artists such as Wu Long-rong will also be shown at the center May 16-30.

Between June and September, the Dunhua branch of Eslite Bookstore will stage forums on organic farming, photography, the pursuit of dreams and reading, Chen added. The speakers will also share their experiences in radio programs produced by the E-Classical station.

All activities are free of charge, Chen said. More information can be found in Mandarin at the DOL website. (THN)
