A special exhibition showcasing artistic creations fashioned from Taiwan-sourced materials is underway as part of Mother’s Day promotions at Taipei 101, the tallest green-certified building in the world.
Located on the fourth floor of the iconic bamboo-shaped skyscraper, the event features an indoor garden dotted with bushes, trees and wild grasses. The center piece is a heart measuring 3 meters in width and 2.3 meters in height.
Created by local installation artist Yu Wen-fu using feathers and bamboo, two of his signature creation elements, the artwork is believed to symbolize the eternal love and care of a mother for her child.
Taipei 101 spokesman Liu Chia-hao said the exhibition contributes to the promotion of Taiwan’s cultural and creative sector. “It also follows on from the success of Gallery 101 launched last August, and enables more local artists to showcase their wares on a high-profile stage.”
According to Liu, Taipei 101 and its observatory are expected to welcome 14 million and 3 million visitors, respectively, this year. “We will capitalize on this first-class opportunity by spotlighting the creative energy and ingenuity of Taiwan artists,” he added. (SFC-JSM)
