Scoring 4.5 out of 5 stars, NMMBA was a winner of the Traveler’s Choice Awards for its 87.6 percent rating based on 210 reviews posted on the website. Some of the reviewers described the facility as “astonishing,” “awesome,” “beautiful,” a “must-go attraction” and a place where “fish and animals are well looked after.”
This result saw NMMBA move up one place from last year, surpassing Siam Ocean World in Thailand and Aquaria KLCC in Malaysia, and trailing only Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, S.E.A. Aquarium of Singapore and Okichan Dolphin Theatre of Japan in that order.
“We are genuinely honored as only the world’s top 1 percent of travel spots can make the list,” an NMMBA official said. “The ranking represents recognition of our efforts in enhancing visitor experiences and service quality.
“The museum will continue striving to offer patrons the best marine knowledge and make trips to NMMBA an unforgettable experience,” he said, adding that the aquarium is also stepping up global promotion efforts.
Covering 36 hectares on the southern-most tip of Taiwan, NMMBA commenced operations in 2000 and has become a top attraction for visitors from home and abroad. It boasts three major exhibits: Coral Kingdom Pavilion, Water of Taiwan and Waters of the World. (SFC-JSM)
