Four British social media influencers were invited by the Tourism Administration to visit Taiwan April 24-30 to promote the country to younger generations in Europe and the U.K.

According to the TA, Taiwan recorded around 350,000 European visitors in 2024, up 17 percent from 2023. In 2025 6,101 British nationals traveled to Taiwan in January alone, a year-on-year gain of 29.4 percent.

The latest visit was arranged by the TA’s London office in collaboration with Chiayi County Government and included some of the country’s most iconic tourist sites. It is also part of the promotion of the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival and builds on the success of the 2025 U.K. Elite Mini Conference that took place Feb. 8-14 in Taiwan.

The TA said the four content creators are travel blogger Jennifer Tuffen (known as @izkiz on Instagram and X), photographer Umit Yoruk (@iamtravelr on Instagram) and vacationing duo Hand Luggage Only (@handluggageonly on Instagram and Tik Tok). Together they boast more than 6.5 million followers.

While visiting Alishan National Scenic Area in central Taiwan, the four experienced Indigenous Tsou tribal culture and cuisine, as well as the area’s renowned tea culture. During their stay in the southern city of Tainan, the group went to a beauty salon to enjoy a local-style shampoo and massage and toured the city’s old streets to sample traditional snacks.

Although the four influencers are no strangers to Taiwan, they were still amazed by the people’s hospitality, the uniqueness of the country’s tea culture and their ride on Formosensis, a cypress-paneled luxury train operated by state-backed Taiwan Railway Corp. They all expressed hope of visiting the country again in the future. (SFC-E)
