The Vision Pavilion for the planned National Children’s Future Museum was inaugurated May 24 in New Taipei City, reflecting the high priority given to the country’s children.

During the ceremony, Premier Cho Jung-tai said people are at the core of the government’s policies and are also a central element of the planned museum. The museum, scheduled for completion in 2030, is the government’s response to the insufficiency of cultural venues specifically designed for children, he said, calling the pavilion a glimpse into the possibilities the museum has to offer.

Minister of Culture Li Yuan was also in attendance and said children are the future of Taiwan. He added that the ministry will spare no efforts to build a future where they can explore and build their own dreams and expectations.

As part of celebrations for the pavilion’s inauguration, the MOC held the International Children’s Museum Forum May 22-23 in Taipei City that involved more than 400 participants from home and abroad, including representatives from major children’s museums in France, Japan, the Netherlands and the U.S.

During the forum, invited speakers shed light on issues such as managing children’s museums, curating exhibits for children of different ages and promoting learning through playing. Panelists also exchanged views on Taiwan’s planned children’s museum and provided valuable suggestions on the facility’s design. (SFC-E)
