The Tourism Administration under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications is spotlighting Taiwan’s diverse tourism attractions at the International Travel Expo taking place June 12-15 in Hong Kong.
According to the agency, Hong Kong and Macau have been among the top three sources of visitors to Taiwan for years, with the number of arrivals reaching 1.31 million in 2024. While travelers from the territories are generally familiar with Taiwan’s cultural heritage, natural beauty and diverse cuisine, they are still highly interested in engaging in various themed tours, the TA said.
This is evidenced by the popularity of targeted tour packages designed by the TA for such visitors interested in hiking, diving or traveling with family in Taiwan. The itineraries were launched by the TA in response to the growing sustainable tourism trend following the COVID-19 pandemic.
In line with the TA’s Taiwan—Waves of Wonder promotional brand, the Taiwan pavilion is themed Chill in Taiwan and features a wide selection of travel packages exploring the country’s forests, downshifting lifestyle, railway heritage and winter attractions.
As 2025 has been designated the year of railway travel, the pavilion also highlights many rail routes suitable for year-round travel, including the very popular tourism trains Haifeng, Shanlan and Future, the TA said.
The administration said it will organize a raft of promotional campaigns later this year in the two territories to showcase Taiwan’s unique appeal as a vacation destination. (SFC-E)
