A total of 40 major buyers from Southeast Asia arrived in Taipei City May 29 looking to procure green energy products, machinery, metals, medical instruments, information technology products, foodstuffs and industrial raw materials, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) announced.
The buyers, from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, are scheduled to attend a business matchmaking and information presentation organized by TAITRA at the Taipei World Trade Center May 30. The gathering will include one-on-one procurement talks between the buyers and suppliers, as well as an introduction to the market in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Among the buyers are seven enterprises with annual earnings topping US$100 million, including Thai telecom provider Samart Comtech Co. Ltd.; Indonesia’s PT Dharma Polimetal, which is involved in supermarket equipment, health care equipment and automotive components; and Malaysian food and beverage maker Yeo Hiap Seng Ltd.
TAITRA said it hopes the event will increase Taiwan suppliers’ understanding of the Southeast Asian market and help boost the nation’s exports to the region. It urged local enterprises to take advantage of the potentially lucrative business opportunities by participating in the gathering.
In October the council will hold a virtual procurement conference that is expected to attract up to 100 buyers from around the world for talks with more than 400 domestic suppliers, TAITRA added. (SB-THN)
