Taipei International Digital Content Summit and Fair kicked off Sept. 8 in northern Taiwan, attracting thousands of participants to one of the most important trading platforms of its kind in Asia.
Organized by state-backed Institute for Information Industry under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the two-day event saw more than 200 buyers from 20 countries and territories seek tie-ups with 100-plus participating Taiwan firms.
During his opening remarks, Leu Jang-hwa, deputy director-general of MOEA Industrial Development Bureau, said the seventh edition of the annual event underscores government commitment to promoting Taiwan’s digital content industry.
“By initiating information exchanges and experience sharing, the summit brings local industry up to speed on developments worldwide, creates business opportunities for Taiwan firms and enhances the country’s profile on the global stage.”
Themed Anytime, Anywhere and Anything, the summit features competitions on cloud innovation, digital content creation and gaming, as well as keynote speeches, panel discussions and product exhibitions. In addition, more than 260 one-on-one business matchmaking sessions are taking place on the sidelines.
Also invited were dozens of experts and specialists from Germany, Japan, the U.S. and mainland China to participate in 30-plus technical and market trends forums. Topics discussed broached cloud gaming, consumer psychology, intellectual property management and licensing, mobile videoing and wearable devices apps, among others.
Another highlight is the inaugural Indie Festa enabling independent local content developers to showcase their latest offerings and engage in exchanges with international counterparts.
According to the organizer, the event is expected to generate over NT$100 million (US$3 million) in business opportunities for local firms. (SFC-JSM)
