The number of foreign professionals in Taiwan reached 26,028 in February, a year-on-year increase of 2.5 percent, according to the Council of Labor Affairs April 14. Most work in technical fields, with 55.8 percent of the total, followed by language teachers, performers and athletes. In terms of country of origin, Japan takes up 27.1 percent, followed by the United States at 20.7 percent.
The Forest Bureau has selected 100 trails across Taiwan highlighting unique flora and fauna, topology and cultural heritage in celebration of the International Year of Forests, bureau officials said April 15.
