Japan’s fourth donation of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Taiwan arriving Sept. 7 at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is testament to strength of friendship and relations between the two sides, according to the Presidential Office.
The latest shipment of 64,000 doses follows those of 1.24 million, 1.13 million and 970,000 delivered June 4, July 8 and July 15, respectively, the PO said. The 3.4 million total is greatly appreciated by the government and people, the office added.
At a time when most parts of the world are struggling with the impact of the pandemic and vaccines remain in short supply, the generous gesture touches the hearts of the people and shows once again Taiwan has a real friend in Japan, the PO said.
All three previous donations have been administered to the public, the PO said, adding that they played a significant role in boosting the vaccination rate and strengthening Taiwan’s coronavirus fightback.
Those involved in making the shipments possible have the country’s sincere thanks and gratitude, the PO said. The government will continue working closely with Japan in deepening friendship and expanding exchanges, as well as promoting global health and regional peace, stability and prosperity, the office added.
