A glimpse of the past

February 27, 2009
The Taipei Fine Arts Museum is currently holding a retrospective of Lee Ming-tiao’s work. The pictures of the 88-year-old Taiwanese photographer offer a visual narrative of a bygone era, conveying images of times and places that seem distant yet familiar to contemporary viewers. The exhibition, which runs until April 5, includes photos Lee took from the 1940s through the 1990s, with a special focus on the artist’s early pictures of street scenes and rural landscapes, such as “Shepherd Boys” and “Guangfu Bridge (Taipei),” both taken in 1947.
