Minister of Economic Affairs Kuo Jyh-huei is leading a trade delegation to the U.S. as part of government efforts to further expand trade ties between the two sides, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs June 26.

Comprising officials and business leaders from Taiwan’s semiconductor, information and communications technology, and aviation sectors, the group first attended the SelectUSA Investment Summit staged June 23-26 in Maryland, the MOEA said. The Taiwan delegation was among the largest to take part in the annual event, and Taiwan was the only country in Asia that saw its firms contest in the Tech Program finals, it added.

According to the MOEA, the minister took the opportunity to bring U.S. counterparts up to speed on new government policies aimed at enhancing supply chain resilience and expanding bilateral cooperation.

Another of Kuo’s key missions is to meet with U.S. Department of State officials to discuss issues to be raised at the upcoming Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue and urge the speedy conclusion of a double taxation avoidance agreement, the ministry said, adding that Kuo will also call on key U.S. companies in Silicon Valley to promote investment in Taiwan.
