A workshop on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and digital technologies was jointly hosted by the Cabinet-level National Science and Technology Council and the French Office in Taipei Nov. 4 in Taipei City, underscoring the two sides’ commitment to cooperation in scientific research.
The event covered the interdisciplinary aspects of AI and cyberspace, cryptography, frugal AI and trustworthy AI, AI-driven health care, malware detection and defense, and strategies to counter disinformation and fraud, the council said. Discussion integrated aspects of engineering, mathematics, science and technology, with academics and experts in the humanities, law and social sciences also participating, it added.
In his remarks, NSTC Deputy Minister Chen Bing-yu said that reviewing cross-disciplinary research and exploring future prospects will help advance bilateral partnership. He expressed hope that the dialogue would serve as a starting point for further joint projects.
The workshop was held under the Science and Technology Cooperation Convention inked by Taiwan and France in November 2023, in which they committed to working together in the six key areas of semiconductors and quantum computing, health care, marine technology, cybersecurity and AI, green industries, energy and net-zero emissions, and space technology, the council said.
