President Lai Ching-te conveyed congratulations on behalf of the government and people of Taiwan to President-elect Surangel Whipps Jr. and Vice President-elect Raynold “Arnold” Oilouch of Palau and expressed hope of further deepening bilateral ties Nov. 7 in Taipei City.
Presidential Office Spokesperson Karen Kuo noted that Taiwan and its Pacific ally have maintained diplomatic relations for 25 years, adding that the two sides have worked together in areas spanning agriculture, information and communications technologies and clean energy while jointly facing global challenges such as climate change.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also congratulated the pair for their resounding victory. Taiwan will continue collaborating with the government of Palau to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific, the MOFA concluded. (POC-E)
