Swaziland’s King Mswati III will lead a delegation on a state visit to Taiwan Oct. 26-30, the ROC Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Oct. 24. Delegation members include Mtiti Fakudze, minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation, Winnie Nxumalo-Magagula, minister of information, communications and technology, and Prince Hlangusemphi Dlamini, minister of economic planning and development.
Branislav Javorek and Vladimir Vilcek, respective heads of Slovakia’s trade and trade policy departments under the Ministry of Economy, visited the ROC Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Department of Investment Services Oct. 24. The officials, who were brought up to speed on Taiwan’s economic and trade situation, expressed interest in encouraging local manufacturers to invest in the East European nation and enhancing bilateral industry investment cooperation.
Taiwan is the world’s No. 2 food destination for travelers, according to the latest survey by Internet media company Travelzoo. A total of 34.1 percent of respondents opted for Taiwan, which finished behind Japan at 48.2 percent. Hong Kong came in at No. 3 with 30.9 percent. In the friendliness stakes, Taiwan was again beaten by Japan for first place, with Thailand taking third.
A new app enabling users to access information on the activities of ROC government-funded Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund was launched Oct. 24 in Taipei City. The target audience for the new app is those interested in learning more about the TaiwanICDF programs spanning such areas as environmental protection, food security, and global relief and development.
