MOFA Minister Wu meets new St. Lucia ambassador, accepts copy of credentials

Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu met with Robert Kennedy Lewis, St. Lucia’s newly appointed ambassador to the ROC (Taiwan), and accepted the copy of his credentials April 20 in Taipei City.
 
The government and people extend the warmest of welcomes, Wu said. It is expected Taiwan and ally St. Lucia will work even closer in deepening friendship and expanding exchanges for the benefit of both countries, he added.
 
According to Wu, the unflagging support of St. Lucia for Taiwan’s participation in international organizations is deeply appreciated by all segments of society.
 
St. Lucia is an important Caribbean partner, Wu said, adding that the countries share a long history of fruitful cooperation spanning key areas such as agriculture, education, food security and public health.
 
In response, Lewis said Taiwan is a vital ally of St. Lucia and Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre highly values the countries’ friendship. No stone will be left unturned in strengthening ties and advancing cooperation for the benefit of the people, he added.
 
In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said “Minister Wu was pleased to meet with Robert Kennedy Lewis & accept the copy of his credentials as #StLucia’s ambassador to #Taiwan. We wish our friend from the #Caribbean all the very best & look forward to cooperating closely in taking bilateral relations to new heights.”
 
According to the MOFA, Lewis is a former Cabinet minister holding the education portfolio, as well as a member of the House of Assembly in the Parliament of St. Lucia. (DL-E)
