The visit by the Kingdom of Eswatini’s Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini and his delegation is sincerely welcomed by the government and people of Taiwan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Touching down March 5 at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Dlamini brings with him Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Lomvula Hlophe, Minister of Economic Planning and Development Tambo Gina, MEPD Principal Secretary Thabisile Mlangeni and PM Office Principal Secretary Bertram Stewart.

According to the MOFA, the group will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen and Premier Chen Chien-jen during their stay. Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu will host a banquet in their honor, and they will visit several Taiwan firms that have maintained extensive operations in Eswatini.

The delegation will also tour Hsinchu Science Park for updates on Taiwan’s high-tech development as reference for Eswatini’s Royal Science and Technology Park, the ministry added.

The MOFA recognizes Eswatini as a key ally, especially in light of its unwavering support for Taiwan at United Nations general assemblies and its special agencies the World Health Assembly and U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change. Over the years the two countries have collaborated on projects spanning agriculture, education, information and communications technology, infrastructure development, and medical care and public health, it added.

The visit by the prime minister is of special significance, as 2023 marks 55 years of bilateral ties between the allies. The government will continue to work with Eswatini to improve the well-being of both sides, the MOFA said. (SFC-E)
