Taiwan’s EVA Airways Corp. is among the winners of the APEX Regional Passenger Choice Awards presented Nov. 13 at the Future Travel Experience-APEX Asia Expo in Singapore by organizer New York-based Airline Passenger Experience Association.

EVA was named the best overall airline in Eastern Asia. Other regional awards went to Vistara for Central Asia, Air New Zealand for the South Pacific and Qatar Airways for the Middle East.

According to EVA, the award is further global recognition for the company’s commitment to outstanding passenger service made possible through ongoing staff training, aircraft investment and software upgrades. These efforts help ensure passengers enjoy their time on board, it added.

In early September, EVA and China Airlines Co. Ltd., both headquartered in the northern city of Taoyuan, were named five-star airlines by APEX. Only 36 carriers currently hold this top rating, which is awarded on the basis of certified passenger feedback from more than 1.4 million flights operated by 600 airlines around the world.

EVA is a regular winner in global airline surveys, including being named the fifth best carrier in the World Airline Awards in July 2018 by U.K.-based aviation analysis group Skytrax.

It was also rated one of the world’s 20 safest airlines for the sixth consecutive year in early January following a survey by Australia-headquartered aviation reviews website AirlineRatings.com. (SFC-E)
