Taiwan’s EVA Airways Corp. scooped the latest TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards, earning honors in five categories as assessed by international flyers over 12 months, according to the world’s largest travel platform.

Based in northern Taiwan’s Taoyuan City, EVA was named No. 7 globally; a major airline in Asia; No.1 for business class globally and in Asia; and No. 1 for premium economy in Asia. The result continues the carrier’s four-year run of appearances in the prestigious program’s winning circle.

EVA President Clay Sun said the airline is grateful for the support of its passengers, and has worked tirelessly to ensure flights, services and experiences exceed expectations.

This commitment continued amid COVID-19, Clay said, adding that EVA redoubled efforts to sterilize cabins and keep passengers fully informed of coronavirus-combating measures so as to further build trust with customers.

Kanika Soni, chief commercial officer at TripAdvisor, said it has been a challenging year for travel and hospitality. But all of the winners are well-deserving and a great source of inspiration as the world begins to venture out again, he added.

The annual awards featured 64 airlines from Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East, Africa/Indian Ocean and South Pacific/Oceania. They were determined via reviews and ratings left on TripAdvisor throughout 2019.

A regular winner in global surveys, EVA was named best overall carrier in East Asia by U.S.-based Airline Passenger Experience Association, or APEX, last November. It is also one of the world’s 20 safest airlines for the sixth year running, according to the latest assessment by Australia-headquartered aviation reviews website AirlineRatings.com. (TYT-E)
