The country’s first Digital Transformation Innovation Hub is now operational at Kaohsiung Software Park in southern Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs June 29.

In a statement, the MOEA said the new hub underscores the government’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation in the manufacturing industry. It is funded under the flagship Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program, the ministry added.

Organized by the MOEA Export Processing Zone Administration in collaboration with state-backed Institute for Information Industry, the platform will help shape the digital transformation of business clusters through a model of co-learning, consensus and co-creation, the MOEA said.

A total of 160 mid-to-senior-level seed talents for digital transformation and 80 consultants will be cultivated under the initiative, the MOEA said, adding around NT$250 million (US$8.9 million) of investment from companies and NT$1.6 billion (US$57 million) of output value from related services will be generated as a result.

Launched in 2017, the FIDP is a comprehensive plan aimed at addressing Taiwan’s key infrastructure needs for the next 30 years. It includes projects spanning railway development, digital infrastructure, aquatic environments, food safety, green energy, urban-rural development, boosting birth rates and child care facilities, and nurturing talent and employment.
