A donation of 30,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses by the Czech Republic to Taiwan is sincerely appreciated, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs July 27.

Announced by Czech Health Minister Adam Vojtech a day earlier, the donation is a genuine show of friendship by one of Taiwan’s like-minded partners, the MOFA said. Such timely support will always be remembered by the government and people, the ministry added.

The MOFA also took the opportunity to extend its gratitude to the Czech government, Senate President Milos Vystrcil, Sen. Pavel Fischer, Prague Mayor Zdenek Hrib and all those involved in the donation.

In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA said: “We welcome the donation of 30K COVID19 vaccine doses to #Taiwan by the #CzechRepublic. The generous gesture reflects the deep-seated friendship shared by our freedom- & democracy-loving people. It also shows that forces for good never leave one of their own behind. Thank you!”

Taiwan and the Czech Republic signed a joint statement on combating coronavirus at the start of the pandemic last year. It is the third European country to have announced vaccine donations to Taiwan, following those by Lithuania and Slovakia earlier. (DL-E)
