The 10th Taiwan-Poland Economic Consultations took place May 17 in Taipei City, spotlighting the like-minded partners’ commitment to fostering mutually beneficial ties, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Co-hosted by Chen Chern-chyi, deputy minister of the MOEA, and Grzegorz Piechowiak, deputy minister of Poland’s Economic Development and Technology Ministry, the event focused on strengthening trade relations and enhancing bilateral cooperation across a spectrum of industries.
According to Chen, Taiwan-Poland economic ties moved from strength from strength amid the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The two sides have been working closely in fields spanning cybersecurity, green energy and information and communication technologies, Chen said, adding that the consultations will deepen future collaboration.
Piechowiak thanked Taiwan as a responsible and caring partner as evinced by its donation of pandemic prevention supplies in 2020. The Polish government will continue working with the country to expand sectors such as electric vehicles, hydrogen energy, medical care and semiconductors, while strengthening resilience in global supply chains, he added.
According to the MOEA, following the consultations, Taiwan research institutes and business associations inked three memorandums of understanding for cooperation on energy saving, electric vehicles and good laboratory practice with members of the Polish delegation.
In a tweet on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official Twitter account, the MOFA said: “The warmest of welcomes to @piechowiakPL & his delegation.
