Taiwan’s Sports Administration under the Ministry of Education will showcase results from the country’s sports-related initiatives next month in Tokyo, the MOE said Jan. 12.

During the event set for Feb. 16, the SA will detail progress of the Sports Policy Network initiative that Taiwan proposed during the 2016 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation gathering, as well as implementation of the HYPE Global Virtual Accelerator Taiwan startup incubation project, the ministry added.

According to the MOE, APEC member states including Australia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam will share their experiences and practices in promoting youth participation and sustainability in global sporting events.

In addition, the organizing committee from Australia will report on the preparations for the Brisbane Summer Olympics in 2032, the ministry added.

Another highlight is a session in which 11 new beneficiaries from home and abroad of the GVAT project will showcase products such as smart hockey sticks, table tennis rackets and sportswear, as well as advanced management systems for sports arenas.

Jointly launched in 2018 by the SA, Hsinchu City-based National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and Israel-headquartered HYPE Sports Innovation, the project has fostered 96 startups from around 20 countries and helped secure US$16.7 million in financing for the firms, according to the SA. (SFC-E)
