Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport earned the No. 2 spot for airport immigration service globally in the latest industry awards by U.K.-based air travel research group Skytrax.
The facility in northern Taiwan moved up two places from its ranking last year in the annual survey examining the experiences of air travelers from more than 100 countries and territories at 550 airports worldwide.
TTIA improved one place to ninth for best accessible facilities, and remained third and seventh for best airport serving between 40 and 50 million passengers and best airport staff, respectively. It also made the top 10 for baggage delivery, regional airport and security, finishing eighth, ninth and 10th, respectively.
According to TTIA, the high marks underscore the effectiveness of the airport’s ongoing efforts to upgrade its facilities and meet the needs of modern travelers. Lower passenger numbers during the COVID-19 pandemic are providing an opportunity to undertake various renovation projects that will expand capacity moving forward, it said. (SFC-E)
