A memorandum of understanding on cybersecurity cooperation was concluded by Taiwan and India Jan. 3, underscoring the like-minded partners’ commitment to strengthening bilateral exchange and research, the National Center for High-performance Computing at the National Applied Research Laboratories under the Ministry of Science and Technology said.
Inked virtually by Shepherd Shi, director-general of the NCHC in Taipei, and Yogesh Joshi, dean of international relations of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, the pact takes effect immediately.
According to the NCHC, IIT Kanpur is a leading institute in innovative technology and research in the New Southbound Policy partner country. After holding several virtual meetings, the two sides decided to expand cooperation from basic cybersecurity research to cybersecurity trends and threat analysis.
Under the MOU, the two sides will perform cybersecurity threat modeling through analyzing malware behavior in order to understand the impact of malicious programs on systems and networks, the NCHC said. The pact will see the set up of a cross-national cybersecurity research platform on a cloud-based virtual framework, the center added.
A key plank in the government’s national development strategy, the NSP seeks to strengthen Taiwan’s agricultural, business, cultural, education, tourism and trade ties with the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations member states, six South Asian countries, Australia and New Zealand. (DL-E)
