Taxi drivers protest Aug. 16 in front of the Executive Yuan in Taipei City after the government rejected their call for a ban on Uber, an app-based ride-sharing service provider. While the app has been declared illegal in Taiwan by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the Cabinet has said it plans to amend relevant regulations by next year to create a fair legal environment for Uber to operate in the country.
