The 20th annual International Association of Insurance Supervisors meeting will be held in Taipei City next year, according to the ROC Financial Supervisory Committee Oct. 14.
“This event serves as a top-notch opportunity for Taiwan to strengthen exchanges with IAIS members on international financial regulatory coordination,” an FSC official said.
The announcement follows the 19th IAIS annual conference Oct. 10-12 in Washington. During the meeting, FSC Deputy Minister Lee Jih-chu and other high-ranking ROC economic officials exchanged views on issues of mutual concern with IAIS committee members and U.S. National Association of Insurance commissioners.
Established in 1994, the Basel-based IAIS represents insurance regulators and supervisors from 190 jurisdictions. It promotes industrywide cooperation, as well as market development and financial stability.
Taiwan is a founding member of the organization and signatory of the IAIS Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on Information Exchange. (JSM)
