President Tsai extends condolences on passing of Eswatini PM Dlamini

President Tsai Ing-wen extended her deepest condolences on the passing of Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini to the government and people of the Kingdom of Eswatini, according to the Presidential Office Dec. 14.
 
In a statement, Tsai described Dlamini as a respected leader whose staunch support for Taiwan’s international participation was greatly appreciated by the government and the people. May he rest in peace and his family receive full care and consideration during this testing time, she said.
 
Tsai also instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ROC (Taiwan) Embassy in Eswatini to convey the country’s heartfelt symapthies to its African ally.
 
The MOFA said the government and people are grateful for Dlamini’s rock-solid backing of Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations, as well as his efforts to expand bilateral cooperation and exchages across an array of fields. Dlamini is a true friend of Taiwan who significantly contributed deepening friendship between the two sides, the ministry added.
 
Taiwan stands with the government and people of Eswatini, the MOFA said, adding that the proven partnership in prosperity will continue being strengthened with more opportunties created for collaboration in mutually beneficial areas.
 
In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA said “We’re deeply saddened by the passing of Prime Minister Dlamini. On behalf of the government & people of Taiwan, we extend our sincere condolences to the government & people of the Kingdom of Eswatini. The PM was a highly respected leader & great friend. May he rest in peace.”
 
Taiwan and Eswatini established diplomatic relations in 1968. The countries have successfully carried out numerous joint projects in such areas as agriculture, education, information and communication technology, rural electrification and women’s empowerment. (YCH-E)
