Premier Cho Jung-tai emphasized that the government would continue to promote sport for all citizens in accordance with President Lai Ching-te’s healthy Taiwan concept.

Cho made the remarks while visiting the National Sports Training Center June 15 in the southern city of Kaohsiung, where national teams are preparing for the upcoming Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024.

The athletes will set off for Paris in mid-July, Cho said, adding that Lai is closely following the teams’ training, transportation, diet and accommodation details. Cho reminded the Ministry of Education's Sports Administration to prioritize security for team members and expressed appreciation for the arrangement of business-class flights for the competitors.

Taiwan Institute of Sports Science was launched in September last year and Cho noted that its establishment signified the importance placed on physical education, in addition to other industries in which Taiwan already excelled. He said that the government would expedite budget to install smart equipment for training to gain excellent results for the country.

He further expressed hope that Taiwan athletes would successfully showcase their exceptional talent and skills at international sporting events. (POC-E)
