MOFA welcomes upcoming Japan parliamentary delegation

October 06, 2023
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the Oct.7-10 visit of the Japan-ROC Diet Members' Consultative Council delegation, Oct. 5 in Taipei.

The visit by a 43-member group from the Japan-ROC Diet Members' Consultative Council led by Keiji Furuya from Oct.7-10 is sincerely welcomed by the government and people of Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oct. 5 in Taipei.

The visit of such a large group to celebrate National Day demonstrates Japan’s support for Taiwan and is a concrete demonstration of the solid warm relations and partnership between the two countries. In addition to Furuya, the contingent includes House of Representative members Seishiro Eto and Koichi Hagiuda.

During their four-day stay, the delegation will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen, Legislative Yuan President You Si-kun and Taiwan-Japan Relations Association Chair Su Jia-chyuan. The group will attend the Double Tenth National Day celebrations and an evening reception hosted by Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu, the MOFA said.

The delegates’ other itinerary includes a visit to Taipei-based National Taiwan University, Wusanto Reservoir and the Hatta Yoichi Memorial Park, both in Tainan City.

As the largest cross-party Taiwan friendship group, the Japan-ROC Diet Members' Consultative Council serves as a major bridge between Taiwan and Japan’s law-making bodies, the MOFA added. (POC-E)
